ELECTIONS 2015. Candidate - Freixa

Once he had finished his studies, which he always did in association with sport, and football in particular, he started to work as a lawyer, following in the footsteps of his father, Antoni, who was also an important lawyer. His mother Maria is a historian and from both of them he learned a culture of hard work, effort and perseverance.

A graduate from the Il·lustre Col·legi d'Advocats de Barcelona in 1997, after getting a degree in law from the University of Barcelona in 1991, he then studied to became a state-certified lawyer. His professional practice, Freixa Advocats, specialises in Civil, Merchant, Procedural and Sports Law.

He has lectured on Civil Law at the University of Barcelona, and on postgraduate and masters courses at the Pompeu Fabra University and Ramon Llull University, and has attended conferences at different academic institutions both at home and abroad, and frequently appeared in televised debates between 2005 and 2010.

It was his work in law that drew him into the other world for which he feels passion and devotion, football. Toni was an amateur player until 2003 for such clubs as Mollet, Escolapis de Sarrià and Penya Anguera.

He was a disciple of Laureano Ruiz at the Escolapios Sarrià and got to know the game from a more technical and expert point of view. He still plays in the Catalan Federation’s Veterans League and at the CF Hristo Stoichkov Barcelona. He has also been on the winning team four times in the l FC Barcelona Members League.

Toni and his wife Alicia have 3 children two twins aged 13 years that are playing for the Penya Anguera and an 11 year old daughter who plays field hockey.

He has followed barça from a very young age and has followed the team throughout Spain on Europe and has attended Champions League, Cup Winners Cup and European Super Cup finals. Wherever Barça has needed its fans’ support, he has always been there to provide it.

In 2000 he supported the candidature of Lluís Bassat as a volunteer and spokesperson. Later, from 2003 to 2005, he was Legal Advisor to Joan Laporta’s Board and a member of the Disciplinary Commission. He was named president of that commission in February 2014 and left the post in October 2014.

In 2010 he became Secretary and Spokesman for the Board during the second presidency of Sandro Rosell. He stood down as spokesman in February 2014 and as Secretary in October 2014.

He has been associated to the club for 12 years, where he has gained extensive knowledge and experience of how a football club is run. He has learned from what he has got right and also from what he has got wrong, and this has inspired him to now stand for the presidency of the best club in the world.

Such experience can serve to build a better future. And such changes will needed to be preceded by changes towards management that is loyal to the members and not to personal interests.

Toni’s team oozes with enthusiasm and passion for Barça. He is renowned for a professional career in which effort, perseverance, the hard graft and the capacity for work have played key roles in achieving professional success in his different roles.

The team supporting Toni Freixa has, from the first day, worked in close fellowship. A team whose prime objectives are to construct and group.
