The first Sports Technology Symposium, which was hosted by FC Barcelona on Thursday 19 November 2015, was a huge success, as a total of 320 professionals from all around the world were able to enjoy talks by representatives of the business and digital departments of different North American and European sports clubs and franchises.

The forum featured speakers and representatives of the NBA’s Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic; the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys; and European football’s Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma and Liverpool, as well as representatives of the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga.

Worldwide participation

The event, aimed at professionals from the sector, reasserted the impact of technology on the world of sport and the most essential trends for understanding the present and future of the sports business in the realms of Big Data, Smart Stadiums and Mobile First.

With the idea being to offer a global forum to debate the topics of technology and data analysis in relation to sport and business performance, the general public were able to join in the conversation via social networks using the hashtag #FCBSportsTech.
