Social commitment

FC Barcelona is also one of the most important cultural and social institutions in Catalonia.

Open, integrating and charitable, Barça has always put sport at the service of the people, one of the many reasons why it is considered ‘more than a club’. This social commitment and responsibility is channelled through the FC Barcelona Foundation, an organisation created in 1994 and a highly valuable instrument for transmitting the positive values of sport to children around the world.

The Foundation represents the charitable side of FCB and runs all kinds of projects and programmes like FutbolNet, Barçakids and Joves Solidaris, either through such awareness campaigns as ‘We Are What We Eat’, or in collaboration with other charity foundations and projects such as Unicef, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Fundación Pies Descalzos, and Leo Messi and Neymar Jr’s own private foundations.
