Matthew has over a decade's experience connecting brands and audiences through great products and digital experiences. Prior to joining the Sports and Entertainment industry, Matthew was a Partner at Simplikate, a tech startup where he built and grew an award-winning mobile app development platform used by companies like Verizon, Mandarin Oriental, Westfield Malls, the FDIC and more. Following a successful exit, Matthew went on to lead Product Development for Phunware, an industry leader in mobile solutions for Fortune 500 companies including Fox, NBC and WWE. Now with the Miami HEAT, Matthew’s impact on executing the franchise’s mobile-centric, technology-driven mandate has been immediate and wide-ranging. From implementing mobile only entry for all HEAT home games to unveiling a best-in-class mobile app to parsing analytics that inform real time business decisions—Jafarian has brought all his tech savvy know-how to downtown Miami.

Presentation Synopsis:

The Miami HEAT's journey towards mobile ticketing began in earnest two seasons ago. We were hosting thousands of guests every night, yet we didn't know much about them. We saw an opportunity to better communicate with our fans, provide more personalized service, provide fans with instant access to tickets, and eliminate ticket fraud. In 17-18, we converted all individual game buyers and staff seats to mobile. Having 1 in 3 fans on mobile ticketing showed us what we needed to communicate, revealed process improvements, and gave our staff valuable experience. At the start of 18-19, we converted most season and premium seats to jump to 65% mobile. By the playoffs, we were at 85% mobile and setting Ticketmaster arena records with over 16k mobile scans per game.
