Fundación Iberostar

The Fundación Iberostar, which is a charitable institution, has represented a firm commitment from the Iberstar Group to stimulate human and social development in various areas, as well as values such as equality, solidarity with the most needy.

President Joan Laporta and Fundacio member Fernando Martos made a global agreement on September 5th 2007, by which the Fundacio Iberostar signed up to the club’s own Fundacion’s Centre Solidari de la xarxa XICS project, designed to promote education and sport to disadvantaged children in Tangier (Morocco)

The Beni Makada centre

The agreement lays down, as one of its principle points, the support of the Fundació Iberostar for the construction of the Xics Centre in a Beni Makada, one of the poorest areas of Tangier. The centre aims to help with the physical, intellectual and social development of the most vulnerable children of the area, which has a high school drop out rate and suffers from equally high levels of illegal immigration, begging and delinquency.

The children will receive educational support, health services and emotional and psychological help with the objective of reducing the risk of social exclusion. The agreement between the two fundacions will aim to improve awareness of hygiene, health and dietary good practice, both for the children and their teachers.
