Spain are defeated, Belarus claim victory

Belarus needed to win in order to qualify for the next round of the World Championship, and Siarhei Rutenka’s team defeated Saudi Arabia in the do-or-die match. The Blaugrana player scored three goals for this national team.

The Spanish national team didn’t do as well. The men managed by Valero Rivera lost to Croatia in the match that decided the top spot of Group D (25-27). At the break the score favoured the Croats (13-15), and they were able to hold onto their lead for the remainder of the match. Spain finished second in the group.
