The Spanish national team didn’t do as well. The men managed by Valero Rivera lost to Croatia in the match that decided the top spot of Group D (25-27). At the break the score favoured the Croats (13-15), and they were able to hold onto their lead for the remainder of the match. Spain finished second in the group.
