December 28, 1975. Round 15 League 1975/76.
Clásico 1975/76
There was an unusual atmosphere at the Barça v Madrid match on December 28, 1975. Francisco Franco had died on November 30 and Madrid president Santiago Bernabéu had spoken about how he had fought in the Spanish Civil War with the fascist troops that occupied Catalonia. A group of Catalan activists, inspired by Joan Granados and Jaume Rosell, organised a display of one thousand Catalan flags, which were able to fly in the stadium for the first time since 1939. Barça won 2-1 thanks to a miraculous last minute goal from Rexach.
