The Azulgrana midfielder features in Nike's new CTR360 Maestri III spot as a master puppeteer. In addition, Iniesta reveals why he prefers to play in the midfield
Nike unveiled its new spot for the CTR360 Maestri III boot featuring FC Barcelona’s midfielder Andrés Iniesta. The stop-motion ad shows a puppet of the Azulgrana maestro blowing past opponents and setting the tempo in the midfield on a miniature football pitch.
“The truth is that I really like the ad, it’s nice,” said Iniesta. He added that “I’m obviously not a puppet ... but I’ll keep this puppet with affection.” When asked about why he prefers to ply his trade in the midfield, Iniesta told Nike: “I’ve always liked playing in the middle, that’s where the play begins, both going forward and on defence. As the years go on, you always try to improve all aspects of your game.”
Nike asked Iniesta if he had any advice for budding football stars: “As a midfielder, the only bit of advice I can give is that you try to learn something new in each training session. Try to read the game before your opponent because your positioning before you receive the ball is very important. But above all, you have to be confident in your abilities.”
