La Masia is synonymous with accompaniment. There is no other word that better defines what it does. It accompanies athletes from the first day they arrive at the Club and become part of the youth system, both in their sports training and in academic and personal matters. They are trained, in short, for life. Because they acquire emotional skills that will be of great help in all areas of their careers.
Once they are consolidated athletes, they are trained to understand what it means to be professionals in the world of sport. They are taught what it is like and how to get the most out of it, for themselves and for the Club. They need to learn about all aspects of professional sport: the Club, relations with the press, finances, social networks, nutrition, marketing, and much more.
Our athletes are never alone
As athletes advance as professionals and sense that their careers are coming to an end, we prepare and train them to know, through the Club and its different departments, how they should deal with their retirement. What we seek is for our athletes to realise what they can offer to society and/or even to the Club. This programme for Guidance with the Retirement of Professional Athletes will help them to accept the situation and start building a new personal and professional life.
