The Barça handball team continues to make history in the Machineseeker EHF Champions League. After eliminating PSG in the quarter-finals, the blaugranes are going back to Cologne for their sixth consecutive final four. That's now twelve appearances in fifteen years, a competition record.
Carlos Ortega's side were the last to confirm their place in this season's TruckScout24 EHF Final4, joining Aalborg, Magdeburg and Kiel. The event will take place on 8 and 9 June at the Lanxess Arena.
Already 11 times winners of the tournament, FC Barcelona are also the team with a record number of consecutive wins in the final four format, with four Champions League trophies lifted in Cologne. The blaugranes will attempt to win their fifth in Germany after the wins in 2010/11 against Ciudad Real, 2014/15 against Vészprem; 2020/21 against Aalborg, and 2021/22 against Kielce.
Ortega's side have reached Cologne in his three seasons in charge and are having another superb season in the EHF Champions League. Their performance in the group stage meant they qualified directly for the quarter-finals, where they eliminated Group A third-placed finishers PSG by 22-30 in Paris and 32-31 at the Palau, with the aggregate score 62-53.
