Araujo: 'We are confident in what we are doing'

Uruguayan Ronald Araujo has been one of the important player this season due to his leadership and character. The defender has won over the hearts and minds of culers who see him as a fixture in the defence fr many years to come. The defender is a key player for coach Xavi Hernández and ahead of Sunday's Clásico against Real Madrid, Araujo spoke to sports papers SPORT, Mundo Deportivo and L'Esportiu and admitted that winning at Spotify Camp Nou would be a big step towards the league title, yet being aware "this if football and there is still a lot of the league season remaining." 

A Barça v Real Madrid key for the title 

"We are expecting a really tough game because Real Madrid have some great players but we also have our weapons. We are in good form and we will do everything to win. They would be three vital points to stretch our lead and get closer to our objective, the league title." 

"I think it would not be definitive yet, because this is football and anything can happen but it would be a big step towards our objective. We would be talking about a 12 point gap, that is a good lead, furthermore beating our main rivals. But we have to modest, there is still a long way to go and a lot of game left." 

Opponents

"The truth is that they have great defenders too. We know the quality of players that Madrid have in all their positions, but we are in confident in the work we are doing." 

"I don't think I have the psychological battle won against Vincius There are still many battles to come in our careers."

"I am hoping for a great atmosphere with our fans, a full stadium cheering us on. The fans are supporting us, not just in this game, which is special, but during the whole season and that is very important. It makes me happy to see it."

We are a big family, we all row in the same direction; if we are playing well then the team is good."

"Given my character and how I am and understand football perhaps I have the character of a leader. When Geri (Gerard Piqué) was with us I was also encouraging and shouting. I did it then and I still do it now. Doing that helps me to be concentrated during the game and I think I can help the team. If it is the right time, I think I am prepared to take a step forward and be one of the leaders of this new generation."
