Barça One hits number one in first month

Club's free streaming service gets 1.5 million visits in its first 30 days, including ten days at number one in Spain for Google Play sports downloads, with the live coverage especially popular among users

Just over four weeks after its launch, FC Barcelona's OTT, Barça One, is breaking new ground among supporters worldwide. In its first 30 days of service, it has received more than 1.5 million visits and already has 400,000 users. Indeed, it's fast on its way to becoming the go-to media for Barça fans seeking the very latest content about what's happening at the club, as well as a wealth of more historical and institutional material.

Top sports product on Google Play

Barça One has had an astounding impact on online stores, and the response among users has been resoundingly positive. For ten consecutive days, it was actually the most downloaded sports app in Spain on Google Play where it was rated 4.5 out of a maximum of five. In the Apple Store, the response was even more positive, with an almost-perfect 4.9 out of 5.

International interest

After Spain, the countries with the most downloads of Barça One have been the United States, Mexico and France. At the moment, the service is available throughout Europe, and also in Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, with other countries due to be added soon. The expectation is massive, with no fewer than 30,000 people of other nationalities adding their names to the petition for Barça One to be delivered to their countries too.

Live success

Barça One offers plenty of on-demand content, but where the biggest interest lies is in getting the very latest info about the club. Hence the especially huge viewing figures for such shows as Barça Live, which goes out immediately before and after games, as well as live broadcasts of youth team matches, press conferences and the live stream of the redevelopment work at Spotify Camp Nou. The series of Origins documentaries and re-runs of old matches are other shows that have been getting especially good audiences in these first few weeks of Barça One. And the Barça News programmes with all the latest updates on what's been happening at the club, in English, Spanish and Catalan, are obviously also among the most popular broadcasts.

Premiere of 'The Album' featuring Rafa Márquez

One of the best things about Barça One is its production of exclusive content and the exposure for youth football and other pro sports at the club, such as the recent live coverage of the Final Four of the Futsal Champions League and this week's release of the latest in The Album series featuring reserve team coach and former player Rafa Márquez, in which the Mexican looks back at some of his fondest memories of his many years serving the club.

Another new programme that will be aired very shortly is called Ter Stegen & Zubi: In Good Hands, with its two episodes involving an in-depth conversation between two of the most important goalkeepers ever to play for the team, current goalie Marc André ter Stegen and the legendary Andoni Zubizarreta.
