The finals and trophy presentation bring an end to the eleventh edition

Emotional farewell day at the Ciutat Esportiva. After 648 matches played during these four days of the Barça Academy World Cup, the finals of all categories were played this morning. 175 teams started the tournament, but only 14 made it as far as the boys and girls finals

The patron of this edition was Pau Cubarsí, who joined the sporting vice-president, Rafa Yuste, to present trophies to the champions of the different teams in the presence of Benny Megreli, director of the Barça Academy and Sergi Barjuan, technical director of the Barça Academy. Ando so another edition of the Barça Academy World Cup has come to an end.

Dominance of Barça Escola Barcelona

The youngest category was dominated by two teams from Barça Escola Barcelona. The Blau team defeated Grana 5-1 in the final. In the under-10s category, the winner was Barça Escola Blau, who beat Barça Academy Katsushika from Japan by 4-0.

In U12, there was another decider between Barça Escola Blau and Gra, Blau winning by a narrow 2-1. Barça Academy Dubai won U14 in in a decisive manner by defeating Barça Academy Dominican Republic 5-0. And in the new U16 category, Barça Escola Dubai were again victorious, this time winning a thrilling final against Barça Academy Istanbul by 1-0. 

Catalans win girls tourneys

As for the girls teams, Barça Academy Barcelona won the under 12 category against Barça Academy Katsushika by a clear 5-0. In the other category this year, the winner was Barça Perfeccionament Blau, who defeated Campus Italia 2-0. This second edition brought a rise from 10 teams and 100 players last year to 18 teams and more than 190 players.

Huge success

With a total of 36 delegations from Barça Academies and Campuses, a total of 22 countries were represented in this edition. In the 638 matches played, a total of 2,699 goals were scored for an average of 4.23 per match. And with almost 2,000 boys and girls from five continents playing at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, it is another example of the club's internationalisation. The Barça style of play was clearly is alive and very well indeed among in all the participants who contested the eleventh edition of the Barça Academy World Cup.
