Barça 85-79 Madrid: Palau Clásico is blaugrana!

Absolute superiority led by a stunning Laprovittola, who finishes the game with 25 points and a thoroughly merited MVP award

El Clásico is Culer! Real Madrid were beaten by a Barça side that was quite simply better from start to finish, all to the delight of the 7,726 spectators that packed the Palau Blaugrana, who included the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Lewandowski, Araujo and Joao Félix from the football team.

Laprovittola and Ricky on fire

It was the first few minutes that won it, with Barça going +9 inside the first seven minutes, with Nico Laprovittola and Ricky Rubio utterly showing that what happened against Maccabi midweek was no fluke. By the end of the period, there was only one side in it (27-11).

The defence was also shining. Real Madrid never looked comfortable. Losses, unforced errors and missed shot were the order of the day in the all-white camp, while a Vesely slam dunk reached Barça's 40 mark before the visitors had even broken 20. A timid reaction from Madrid to end the half, but Barça were still clearly in command(45-33).

Holding on strong

But you just never can tell in basketball and outplayed as they were, Real Madrid banged in two threes and in the blink of an eyelid they were back within two. How on earth had that happened? Unperturbed, Barça immediately brought back the game that had served them so well in the first half and soon there was light between the teams again.

The final period was a crunching climax. With Poirier and Tavares both fouled out, Madrid were left centre-less, and that as good as put paid to their impressive late charge. Willy and Vesely scored to make it 75-70 and then five points from MVP Nicolás Laprovittola put the game to bed.

Barça have got their form back in the nick of time. The end season is not far away, and today they were simply majestic! Let's keep this up!
