Panathinaikos 89-81 Barça: Setback in Europe

The blaugranes take a 16 point lead in the second quarter but the home side come back with an impressive second half performance

Defeat for Barça in the Euroleague as they went down 89-81 against Panathinaikos in Greece. The blaugranes were in the game in the first half but the home side rallied in the second half with Sloukas brilliant from the three point line. 

With victory important, Roger Grimau's side started strongly and in a high scoring first quarter, the blaugranes emerged on top at 23-20. 

In the second quarter Barça pressed home their advantage and a spell of 17 unanswered points saw a 40-24 lead for the visitors. The Greek side managed to cut the deficit to 46-34 at half time. 

After the break the game took on a new perspective. Panathinaikos pulled back the deficit to 57-56 before ending the third quarter just a point behind at 61-60. 

The final quarter saw the home side take control with their three point game making a big difference to take it to 76-70 with five minutes remaining. The home side closed out their win at 89-81.
