The Olympic swimming silver medallist is a recognised Barça fan and was in the Presidents Box in January 2011 to see her team play
Swimmer Mireia Belmonte won Spain’s first medal at London 2012 in the 200 m butterfly. A year and a half ago, just after her success at the World Short Course Championship in Dubai, the lady from Badalona was invited to the Camp Nou to watch her favourite team beat Racing Santander on January 22.
In an interview with Barça Magazine at the time, Belmonte said that because of her tight training schedule, she wasn’t able to go to games at the Camp Nou and this was only the second time she’d been there. She also commented on how amazing the Camp Nou is and that wherever she travels to compete she always keeps an eye out for the Barça scores.
“They have a great squad. I admire the players and the effort they put into what they do every day, and that’s reflected on the pitch” she said. “It is a pleasure to watch Barça, especially live”. While she was at the stadium, Mireia Belmonte also visited the playing field and bench area.
