Sala París was the venue on Tuesday at midday for the presentation of the book ‘Inteligencia deportiva’ (‘sporting intelligence’), by Albert Soler, an MP for Barcelona and former Secretary of State for Sport in 2011. His audience included the president of FC Barcelona, Sandro Rosell, who wrote the prologue to the book.
Other people in attendance were Maite Fandos, the governor for sports at Barcelona City Council; Jordi Nadal, director of the Plataforma publishing house; former mayor of Barcelona Jordi Hereu; Diana Garrigosa, wife of the former mayor; former president of the Generalitat Pasqual Maragall; and such top sportspeople as Gervasi Deferr, Víctor Cano and David Barrufet.
Rosell: “It speaks of the importance of transmitting values”
The first person to speak was president Sandro Rosell. “Albert is a friend and I immediately said yes when asked to write the prologue. We share many passions and sport is one of them. His book speaks of the importance of transmitting values through sport and how this should be an important part of our lives”, he said.
The writer, Albert Soler, thanked FC Barcelona for their hospitality, adding that “the book seeks to explain the transversality and relations between we humans and sport”.
Before concluding the presentation, Albert Soler announced his proposal that El Prat Airport in Barcelona should be renamed after Pasqual Maragall.
