The Barça sentiment never stops growing. FC Barcelona holds the world record for having more than 50 million fans on the world’s social networks, a figure taken by adding followers on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Tencent Weibo.
These figures make Barça world leaders. Broken down, the club has more than 35 million Facebook fans and 12.2 million Twitter followers of its Catalan, Spanish, English and French accounts. The leading position is complemented by 2.1 million fans on Google+, 1.5 fans on Chinese network Tencent Weibo and a further 384,873 subscribers on Youtube, making an overall total of 51.6 million Barça fans.
This makes Barça the leading sports club on Facebook, Twitter and Google+, while the biggest growth is currently being registered on Tencent Weibo. In addition to these extraordinary figures, the Club also recently received a 2012 Social Star Award in recognition of its handling of social networks and the FC Barcelona website has just been named the best out of all those of the clubs competing in this year’s Champions League.
