Eleven victories and only one defeat. FC Barcelona Regal’s last 12 matches have given the team the top spot of Group F in the Top 16 of the Euroleague with only two matches to go. The Blaugrana has secured home-court advantage -which was achieved last week- and they’ve assured themselves a quarter-final play off against the fourth placed team of Group E. Tonight’s 83 to 74 victory over Caja Laboral showed that Xavi Pascual’s men always have the determination to win.
The first minutes of the match saw both team commit various errors both on offence and defence. It was still all up in the air at the end of the first quarter, when Barça Regal had built a slight six-point lead (18-12). In the second quarter, Jawai and CJ Wallace led the Blaugrana to an 15-point lead, but a 0-5 run from Caja Lobral cut the lead to 10 points.
Caja Laboral fight back
In the third quarter, Caja Laboral outscored Barça Regal by 10 to 21. The Blaugrana, led by Juan Carlos Navarro, quickly reacted to make it 61-56 at the end of the quarter.
With Lorbek on fire - he hand’t scored any points in the first half, but in the second he had 16 - Barça Regal took control of the game. The Blaugrana kept Caja Laboral at a distance of four to eight points for the rest of the quarter. When the final buzzer blared, Barça Regal were ahead by 83 to 74.
