Sada and Eidson
During the press conference, Joan Creus talked about Víctor Sada and Chuck Eidon’s ongoing contract extension negotiations. On the Catalan he said: “we’re very close to reaching a deal. We’ll give our response shortly and I think it will be positive for both parties.” On the American: “we planned for him to join the team next week if he’s given a good offer. If that’s the case, he’ll take it, if not, he has a contract with us and he’ll join our team.”
Ante Tomic, Barça Regal’s first signing of the 2012/13 season, was officially presented this Thursady afternoon at the Camp Nou’s Richard Maxenchs Prese Room. The new Azulgrana player was clear: “I’m very pleased to be here in Barcelona, I’ll give it my all to win games and titles.” He added: “I want the Liga ACB. I had a good chance to win it last season, but I wasn’t able to do it. Now I want to win with Barça.”
The tallest player on the Azulgrana roster, who is “eager to get on the court," explained why he’s excited to be part of Barça Regal’s future plans: “we have a young team. There are great players in each position and I believe we’ll play a modern style of basketball.” Tomic believes that Barça’s style, which leans heavily on its interior players, is more suited to his personal style of play than that of his ex-team’s, Real Madrid.
Tomic also noted that he’s especially eager to face off against his Los Blancos: “I want to play well against every team, it’s clear that it will be a little strange playing against Madrid, but that’s life... I just want to play.” One of the player’s first assignments is to win over the Palau Blaugrana faithful: “I hope they receive me well, I’ll give it my all on the court, I know these fans support their team like no other.”
Creus: “Negotiating was easy”
Before Ante Tomic talked the the press, the director responsible for the team, Joan Bladé, talked about Barça Regal’s new signings. According to the director, “Tomic is part of a rejuvenated Barça Regal team, a team that we’re very pleased with. Both the technical necessities and the expectations have been covered.” The technical secretary, Joan Creus, revealed that negotiating for the player was relatively simple: “it was a quick deal. Once his old club decided to not renew his contract, he made it clear that he wanted to come here, we agreed and the negotiation was relatively easy.”
