Juan Carlos Navarro will play in Istanbul’s Final Four with the goal of winning the Club’s third European title. The Catalan point guard is the only active player from the team that won the title in 2003 at the Sant Jordi. The 32-year-old, who started his legendary Euroleague career in the year 2000 against Maccabi and took him to continental glory in Prague (2006) and Berlin (2009), is in the hunt for another European crown.
On a personal level, Navarro’s stats in Europe are simply spectacular. Named MVP in 2010 and best player of the Euroleague in 2009, he’s been in the continental all-star team five times (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011) with the possibility of notching up another appearance in the elite five-man squad this year when voting comes to a close in this year’s Final Four. In Istanbul, moreover, he could add to his 200+ matches played in the Euroleague - he currently has played 207 matches in the competition - and increase his all-time point tally of 2,840 points, which allows him to sit atop all-time high point scorers of the competition.
The point guard, who renewed his contract with Barça Regal this November, also broke the barrier of 500 matches played in the ACB. A historic feat for a historic player.
