21 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 recovered ball, these are the numbers that Boniface Ndong put up at the Palacio de Deportes Martín Carpena in Málaga yesterday evening. The Barça Regal small forward, after a stellar performance against Unicaja, was the highest overall valued player this week in the ACB. This is the second time that the Senegalese has been named MVP of the week this season (the first time was after week 2) and his third time overall.
Despite problems with his knee, Ndong was able to play 24 minutes against his ex-team on Sunday and he was decisive in Barça’s victory over Unicaja (57-89).
It’s worth mentioning that the Asefa Estudiantes player, Germán Gabriel, also managed to get an overall evaluation of 31, but he’s not able to share the MVP accolade with Ndong due to the fact that his team lost this weekend.
In the ideal five
The performance against Málaga also allowed Ndong to be in this week’s best starting five team. Each week, journalists from five different sports press outlets select the best players of the week. This week, the journalists picked GermánGabriel for his leadership, Ndong for his effectiveness, Carroll (Real Madrid) for his attitude, Rodríguez (Blusens) for his generosity and Barnes (Alicante) for his dedication.
